Buy a domain name on GoDaddy

Buying the domain in your own name means you always own it. Once it is yours, connecting it to your Freshweb site takes about ten minutes.

Before you start

  • Decide on a few name options. Shorter is easier to say and type. For a UK business, a .co.uk or .uk ending is a good default.
  • Have a card ready. GoDaddy charges yearly.
  1. Search for your name

Go to godaddy.com and type the name you want into the search box on the home page. GoDaddy shows whether it is available, along with other endings you could choose.

  2. Add it to your cart

Add the domain you want to your cart. If you want to protect your name against lookalikes, you could also add the other common endings, but you don't have to.

  3. Skip the extras you don't need

Before checkout, GoDaddy offers extras such as a website builder, hosting and email. You don't need a website builder or hosting, because your site is hosted by us.

Email is a separate decision. If you want an address at your new domain, talk to us before you buy it here.

Domain Privacy hides your personal details from public domain records and is included free on eligible domains. Domain Protection is an optional paid plan that adds extra security checks when changes are made.
  4. Check out and turn on auto-renew

Complete checkout with your own details, so the domain is registered to you.

Then make sure it won't expire: go to your Domain Portfolio, select the domain, and turn on the toggle on the Renew card. If your domain lapses, your website and any email on it stop working.

Check it worked

Your new domain appears in your Domain Portfolio. Next, connect it to your Freshweb site, or give us access and we will do it for you.
